AIR EMISSIONS MODELLING ENGINEER

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Provide expertise and guidance on air emission modelling
• Review air dispersion/quality modelling results
• Assess adherence to air emission regulatory standards and guidelines
• Provide engineering knowledge and technical support to staff and stakeholders
• Manage scientific research on climate change and related socioeconomic and environmental vulnerabilities

How do I qualify?

Mandatory
• Full membership in the Professional Engineers of Ontario

Environmental Knowledge
• You know and can apply the theories, principles and practices of engineering, applied chemistry, industrial processes as they relate to air emissions modelling, including air emissions, pollution control technology and air emission monitoring
• You can interpret and apply environmental legislation (Environmental Protection Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Bill of Rights), regulations, policies, and guidelines that pertain to air quality
• You understand air quality standards, programs and goals, and current emerging environmental trends and issues

Project Management, Analytical, and Problem Solving Skills
• You can assess technologies and analyze highly technical data to measure compliance with ministry requirements
• You can resolve complex air pollution modelling issues
• You have extensive knowledge and experience applying project management principles, practices

Communication, Consultation, and Negotiation Skills
• You can communicate technical information in a clear manner to technical and non-technical audiences
• You are know how to maintain effective working relationships
• You can engage in consultations and negotiations with stakeholders to promote ministry programs and initiatives
• You know how to use computers and related software applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database)
