Managing Editor (part-time)

OUR HOMES magazine is a regional home décor and real estate magazine published four times a year.
We are seeking a part-time Managing Editor for Durham Region (Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, North Durham) to produce local editorial for the magazine.


You MUST LIVE IN THE REGION TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE POSITION.


The managing editor will be paid $2,000 per issue, based on a total of 80 hours per issue.


Working with the publishers and the Editor-In-Chief, the managing editor is responsible for developing a seasonal editorial lineup, setting strict deadlines, scheduling and attending shoots, assigning writers and photographers, writing some features, editing and proofreading copy, writing headlines and cut lines and working with clients. You must have a flair for home décor.

Qualifications

Minimum two years experience in writing/editorial capacity (magazine experience preferred)
Excellent research, reporting, writing and editing abilities
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills in a deadline-driven environment
Degree or diploma in journalism preferred.
