Health Editor / Writer

We are looking for a skilled and talented professional to join our health-conscious, results-driven family. As the Health Editor, you will be reporting directly to the President of Bel Marra Health and collaborating with our other divisions to oversee two websites: BelMarraHealth.com, and LeanOnLife.com.

Both websites will require your management, editorial and marketing expertise, as well as your deep knowledge and passion for health, fitness, and nutrition. You will be responsible for shaping the direction, voice, content, and look of the websites. Daily tasks will include assigning article topics to writers, editing articles before you post them online, and ensuring that all information is accurate and helpful to our readers. You will also be responsible for helping to create premium content such as weight loss, fitness, and recipe books to be sold online.

As the Health Editor, you will be overseeing the Editorial Division at Bel Marra Health, and ensuring that members in the division are skillfully completing their tasks in a timely manner to meet standards and deadlines. You will also act as a liaison between the Editorial Team and other departments (i.e. Marketing, Design, etc.) to work on collaborative efforts for the websites.

Job Responsibilities:

Report directly to the President to ensure direction of websites meets goals
Directly overseeing the content of 2 or more websites
Researching and remaining up-to-date with the most current medical, scientific and health industry information and developments
Authoring high-quality posts and articles for both websites
Creating and assigning weekly article topics and research packets to freelance writers that are subject-related, enticing to readers, and primed towards website SEO matrix and strategies
Hiring/managing in-house editorial staff and out-of-house writing staff
Managing freelance writers and ensuring high-quality work and punctual deadline submissions
Regularly coordinating projects with the Marketing, Design, and Analytic departments
Creating/developing/coordinating premium content (authoring books, developing new products and services, strategizing new and unique content, pursuing joint-ventures, etc.)
Maintaining WordPress websites to post, organize and maintain site content
Overseeing the content, design and deployment of weekly newsletters for both sites, and managing and growing a list of subscribers
Using analytic tools to track website traffic, opens and clicks for newsletters, and article performance
Maintaining adequate subscription/readership to ensure site growth and monetization is being met
Using social media to increase website traffic, to engage audience appropriately and to build a strong and committed following
Regularly writing content and ghost-authoring content for professionals in the medical/scientific/health and fitness field
Desired Skills and Experience

A post-secondary degree in English/Journalism/Communications and/or other relevant area
Minimum of three years’ experience in marketing, writing, and/or health industry
An excellent command of English technical writing skills (including grammar, punctuation, industry vocabulary), journalistic technique, persuasive writing skills, etc.
Superior writing and editing of web content, with an emphasis on writing quality, readability, factual reliability and SEO
SEO amplification and web writing techniques
Knowledge and experience working with WordPress and with a mail/newsletter deployment client
A well-versed familiarity with medical, scientific, health and fitness subject matter and terminology
Experience managing a team to meet deadlines and deliver results
Positive energy and committed to building strong teams
Proven ability in working independently as well as on cross-functional teams
A team player who is ambitious for the success of others
